Digital Switchover in Kent

The Digital Switchover in Kent is Finished! Call 07817845388 for more information.

The Heathfield Transmitter, Bluebell Hill Transmitter and Dover Transmitter have completed all stages of the switchover. There is now NO ANALOGUE TRANSMISSION.
This means that a Freeview TV or box is required to watch terrestrial TV.
Depending on if you are on one of the above transmitters or one of their repeaters will govern how many channels you can receive. Repeater transmitters are only supplying the Public Service Broadcaster Multiplexes - giving about 16 channels (including HD). These include BBC1, 2, 3, 4, CBeebies, CBBC, BBC News, BBC Parliament, ITV1 (&+1) & 2, CH4, E4 and More 4 and five.

The Digital Switchover is divided into two parts - DSO1 and DSO2.

DSO1 sees the end of BBC2 as an analogue transmission.
DSO2 sees the end of all other analogue television transmissions.
   It will also see
  • the changing of broadcast frequencies for the digital Multiplexes (MUX)
  • the transmission (in the South East) of HD channels beginning
  • the digital transmission attain its final, full strength
There will be disruption to services between DSO1 and DSO2.
DSO2 is scheduled to begin just after midnight, however repeater transmitters will lag behind during the course of the morning, particularly repeaters of Crystal Palace.
At DSO2, if you have any televisions that are NOT fed from a digital source (i.e. Freeview, Satellite or Cable) YOU WILL LOSE YOUR PICTURES!  All Freeview equipment will need re-tuning - other digital providers are not affected.(e.g. Sky, Freesat etc.)   Repeater transmitters (such as Wye) will switchover in line with their main transmitter, but will only broadcast the 16 Public Service channels
